Rudolf de Wahl
Rudolf is one of the most notorious and most wanted criminals on the colonial world. The GEO has put a bounty on his head that surpasses any other individual on any of the planets. Combined with the bounties set by the other corporate states, anyone who captures and brings Rudolf to justice will live better then any king for the rest of his life.
The career of Rudolf began mere a few years after Recontact as an Atlas Materials hopper was raided when it stopped for fuel at Santa Elena in 85 SP. The barely surviving pilot told the authorities that the leader has been called Rudolf and the continuing career of the desperado established that his full name was Rudolf de Wahl.
Very little is know about Rudolf but the following is known:
- He has a scar behind his left ear and wears his hair long on his left side to hide it.
- He always wears a green tie, it is actually the hallmark of all his companions to wear a green scarf around the neck or as a head garment
- Some rumours state that he wears the tie to conceal his gills, he has been know for escaping a corporate trap by diving into the ocean and disappearing
- He is a fierce better on Hydroshot, the rumours has it that he cannot take a match that is a set-up and will rob any blind that try to pervert the sport.

The Truth (Spoiler!)
Rudolf de Wahl is based on Santiago in Mike Resnick's SF-book by the same name; Santiago. Any GM that wants to use Rudolf is encouraged to read the book. |
Rudolf was (yes, was!) a colonist that arrived year 2172 (year 77 SP) on the UNSS Ballard for Gendiver and was very fast disillusioned about the corporations and the GEO, it was so obvious to him that greed and ignorance of the humans would destroy this planet as well. As so many after him would decide to do, he decided to stop it. By force if necessary. It all started in 84 SP when he attacked a hopper outside Santa Elena to get some supplies he needed for his task, as described above.
Rudolf founded a group of people he trusted and had a similar mindset and they set out on a crusade that continues to this day. The difference between Rudolf's gang and so many others are that the others try to scare away their enemies (and make some profit on the way), Rudolf is much more similar to a Robin Hood type. He just don't blow things up, he steal things that are of use to his crusade; usually hospital supplies, medicines, research results, valuable property etc. This is used to run the various environmental projects he finance - and to run what he has gained the most amount of fame for among the natives that heard of him (and they all keep quiet out of respect): the hospitals.
The hospitals are boats that move from one location to the next, always taking care of the little, ordinary people that has been caught between the interests of the corporations.
Rudolf himself
The original Rudolf was killed in an ambush by NGC in 276.98 as a revenge for stealing a cargo load they had targeted. His second-in-command, Annie Pinto, took over and stated the tradition that the head of Rudolf's gang called himself (or herself) Rudolf de Wahl. Annie was hurt in the ambush and had her left ear severed by a slash of an knife and wore her hair long on the left side to hide this. Others that has taken the burden of being Rudolf includes a cete (the source of the disappearing act down the ocean). No Rudolf has lived more then a few years and a total of six Rudolfs have existed including the original and the current one. It is a very dangerous profession. The cete once stayed in prison before he joined Rudolf's gang and he then shared 'cell' with Scraps, another cete that runs a shipyard and scrap heap in Haven.
The Rudolf Gang
The people around Rudolf does not call themselves anything or wear any kind of identifying insignia - the work is dangerous enough - but the green scarf insignia was used in an attack on a corporate village some years ago to distinguish between friend and foe since they used outside resources at the time. They are about 20 people and everyone know each other by face so no insignia or other way of proving ones membership is needed. They are keen on using external resources, mostly [[[NGC]] and the Blue Water Circle, to execute operations (they have no grudge against the NGC for killing the original Rudolf). No-one of the original gang is still alive.
