Located at 03°46'07" S, 09°32'18" W, the GEO Armed Forces Crusoe Island Military Base (commonly called Fort Solitude) was established in 2195 in response to the growing inability of the GEO Justice Commission to resolve the Sierra Nueva War between the native population of the Sierra Nueva Cluster and GenDiver. As the conflict increased in intensity and casualties mounted on both sides (as well as the casualties among Justice Commission personnel, it became clear that a GEO military force was a necessity, to act in a peacekeeping [[1]] role.

The Geo Crusoe Island Military base is situated on the southern shore of Crusoe Island, some 300km northeast of Santa Elena.

The base itself is home to a Rapid Deployment Force (RDF), comprised from Echo Company, 33rd Infantry Batallion, totalling some 124 permanent personnel.

The RDF consists of two platoons each of 35 combat infantrypersons. Other personnel on base are rear-echelon administrators and support personnel.

The Combat personnel are in the main, human peacekeepers, but there are a small number of Shock Troopers and 12 cetacean soldiers.

Morale at Fort Solitude is an ongoing problem for the base's Commanding Officer, Colonel Jacob Stone, due to the high casualty rate suffered in operations in the Sierra Nueva Cluster. This has necessitated the rotation of personnel from the base on a six-monthly basis.

Lieutenants Steve Paxton and Carmen Ramirez each command one of the platoons, with a pool of four senior NCOs.
