Lebensraum

Located at 04°59'08" S 02°13'54" E on the island of Mandalay, Lebensraum (current pop. 26,000) is the planetary headquarters of Hanover Industries and one of Poseidon's fastest-growing settlements.

Lebensraum was founded in 2193 after months of debate over its location; Mandalay was ultimately chosen for a combination of safety, efficiency, and proximity to established settlements like Haven and Second Try. The city's explosive growth is due entirely to Hanover Industries importing entire extended families of employees from Germany, as they prepare for the expiration of their leased territories on Earth (and a likely struggle with the GEO) in 2201.

Government

The highest authority in Lebensraum is ultimately Werner Kreiz, who delegates most of the city-state's daily administration.

The Hanover Sicherheitsdienst (Hanover Security Service, HSS) controls access to Lebensraum and maintains heavy patrols of its streets; Hanover has no plan to let the GEO Patrol justify a presence in their city.

Economy

Much like Hanover Industries on Earth, Lebensraum has an incredibly diverse economy that includes agriculture, banking, defense, electronics, fishing, health care and biotech, heavy and light industry, and mining. Some of these have become very profitable in their own right, but not all are expected to; unlike most Incorporate holdings, many parts of Lebensraum's economy are meant to keep the city-state completely independent of the GEO rather than to make money.
