Emergency Response Team
Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) provide initial emergency and disaster response for the GEO. Their tasks include search, rescue, emergency medical care, evacuation, fire-fighting, and all manner of other services. Their remit tends to cover wilderness areas and long-range operations. Most large settlements, including almost all Incorporate settlements, have their own local emergency services.
The GEO HCHR maintains several ERTs across Poseidon. ERT personnel are a mix of experienced people from Earth (including hybrids and cetaceans) and locally recruited staff. ERT members are trained at the Poseidon Training Academy in Haven. Several locally-based emergency services send their members to the PTA for training; these people must serve in the GEO ERTs for five years before they are released to their home service.
ERTs use a variety of vehicles and equipment, often well-equipped long-range jumpcraft.
ERTs are one of the few GEO organizations that are well-regarded by the native population.
